The small country in the heart of old Europe has used the Landis & Gyr optical system for over 15 years, before moving on to chip cards. The first card produced was a definitive of 10 Francs, with red paint, without the typical white band, as is characteristic of the first issues of the Swiss company. 200,000 copies were produced. The red color of the definitive cards then remained typical of all the numerous subsequent editions.
