The small state located in central Italy issued the first telephone cards by Telefonia Sammarinese in 1994. It was a set of three Urmet cards, like those used in Italy, with the small corner to be detached: L.3,000, circulation 19,600, L .8,000, circulation 40,600, and L.18,000, circulation 29,600. Some chip cards were issued in 1998/99, but were not followed and they continued with Urmet emissions. Finally, with a decree dated August 9, 2013 the Sammarinese Public Service service with prepaid cards was revoked.
