In Oman several public card-based telephone systems were used. The first to be installed, in 1985, was provided by the Swiss Autelca, which also produced a series of 4 ordinary cards, with values in ryals, the local currency: RO 1,500 (100,000 run), RO 3,000 (80,000), RO 6,000 ( 200,000) and RO 9,000 (80,000). These were also the only Autelca cards issued, as the system was discontinued in 1988, replaced by the magnetic one supplied by GPT.
