For a few years, apart from a couple of illustrated, only ordinary cards were issued in Malta. The first was a 50-unit orange card (run 157,700), issued together with a 100-unit blue one (run 97,900): both with SC-5 or SC-6 chips, they had a logo with large lettering and the face value reported only in units. Later the inscriptions under the logo were reduced in size, and the values of 20 and 60 units were added; all the cards, except the value of 50, were reprinted several times, with some variations in the graphics.
