Several Validation or Manufacturing Acceptance Cards and Engineering Sample, commonly called by collectors Test cards, have been produced by Gemplus during the years, for almost all the countries where they installed a chip card phone system. They were issued by providers simply to check that the payphones are adequately calibrated and correctly read the face value on true phonecards. These cards could look very similar at a first sight, but they vary, besides the name of the Country, for the value and other small particulars.
