Burundi used the optical card system of Landis & Gyr until 2002, issuing several ordinary cards with the same graphics. The first three were supplied in 1988 with the values of 20 (code 810E, circulation of 2,500), 50 (810F, circulation 1,000) and 100 units (810G, circulation 500). Later they were printed several times with various codes; the value of 100 units was reprinted only once, with code 906E and again a circulation of only 500 copies, and is therefore very rare. With the subsequent reprints the values of 120 and 240 units were also introduced.
